It is with great joy that Vozes Daqui de Parelheiros, represented by Gabriel Razo and Sidinéia Chagas, celebrated winning the Periferia Viva Award in Brasilia. Organized by the Ministry of Cities, the award recognized 178 transformative initiatives working in the peripheries throughout Brazil. This achievement reaffirms the strength of the stories, people and community actions in Parelheiros.
On the occasion, the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, presented the largest package of public policies for the Brazilian peripheries, covering the 6.5 million Brazilians who live in these areas. With an investment of more than R$7 billion, the package includes urbanization, disaster prevention, housing improvements and land regularization.
“While some may decide to become journalists or engineers, others are left with what’s left. The same logic applies to housing: some choose neighborhoods and condominiums; others are pushed into the most precarious areas,” said the President.

Since 2020, the Vozes Daqui de Parelheiros project has been creating audiovisual content and promoting communication workshops to highlight the full power of the Parelheiros territory. Our mission goes beyond capturing stories: we want to preserve and amplify them, reinforcing the cultural wealth and experiences that exist in our community.
We remain committed to promoting new narratives that celebrate the cultural and human diversity of our territory.
