Sarau Women in Literature 2025: Check out the records

On May 11, 2025, another edition of “Sarau Mulheres na Literatura” (Sarau Women in Literature) took place at the Azul das Ondas Community Library, this year with the theme “Writing, Memory and Belonging”. The authors chosen were bell hooks, Carolina Maria de Jesus, Conceição Evaristo and Neide Almeida, whose writings, memories and experiences stir the deepest emotions and reflections.

There were several moments involving adults and children, who shared reflections, care and listening. The space welcomed each person who arrived with great beauty and affection. 🌸

The talk “All about love: reflections and dialogues on bell hooks”, with Letícia Cortes, was intense and profound, bringing reflections on love, care and respect. It involved and moved everyone – questions and thoughts kept coming up. ❤️

For the children, a special space was prepared, where they read excerpts from works by Conceição Evaristo, Clarice Lispector, Carolina Maria de Jesus and talked about genders, women in society and literature. They produced their own writings and drawings, and were happy with the results and very involved in the activities. ✍️

There was also a moment of care with the Perifa Cuida group, which brought narrations of excerpts from the authors, creating a space for listening and belonging that involved women and children, who kept coming. How to put yourself in the other person’s shoes? How do you welcome their emotions? 🤲🏽

Participants also had the opportunity to visit the “Vidas em Cordel” exhibition at the Museu da Pessoa, which brightened up the space and allowed everyone to leave their story on record. 📜

In addition to the community involved, a group of educators and agents from Instituto Elos actively participated in each moment. It was beautiful to experience this soiree. ✨

This is an event organized through the Cultural Incentive Law – Rouanet Law, with the support of CPCD, RNBC and LiteraSampa. Sponsored by Cia. das Letras, Itaú and CNA, organized by IBEAC and the Ministry of Culture – Federal Government.
