IBEAC and Sesc host Cidinha da Silva and Dinha Maria Nilda in a dialogue on literature, memory, and human rights

On November 13, we held another powerful gathering of the project Literature and Human Rights: To Read, See, and Tell, an initiative by IBEAC in partnership with LiteraSampa, at the Sesc Research and Training Center. The event brought together literature, memory, and social struggle in a space dedicated to listening, reflection, and collective strengthening.

We welcomed two leading voices who use the written word as a tool of resistance and transformation: Cidinha da Silva, a writer and editor and one of the most important voices in contemporary Afro-Brazilian literature; and Dinha Maria Nilda, a poet, educator, and activist whose work denounces and renews the fight against the genocide of the Black population.

The conversation was thoughtfully moderated by Bruno Souza and Rhasna Neves, young participants from the Literature and Human Rights reading circle, who guided the dialogue through shared experiences, trajectories, and reflections throughout the meeting.

We continue to celebrate literature as a tool for memory, resistance, and the affirmation of rights, ensuring that our stories are read, seen, and told. 📖✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽
