Against Racism, I Plant: first planting action takes place on World Environment Day

On June 5, World Environment Day, we began an exciting action in Palheiros: planting native seedlings in an area donated to IBEAC and Cooperapas, as part of the “Against Racism, I Plant!” campaign.

Carrying the seedlings, planting them and tinkering with the soil made the morning a powerful meeting of affection, art, ancestry and commitment. A concrete stand against environmental racism!

Each seedling planted symbolizes an active gesture of confronting environmental racism, of affirming climate justice, of putting down roots in the territory and of believing in a collective future.

The cultural program, which included mediation by Magno Farias and literary and musical performances by Mafuane Oliveira and the group Raízes do Tambor, enriched the celebration of this achievement.

The mobilization was a success! Around 300 people, including 120 children, joined hands with the land. Different generations combined their efforts and planted 891 trees on this first day alone, significantly exceeding the initial target. 🌳✨

Our thanks to every person, organization and collective that made this moment possible. Special thanks to the CPCD, the Teko Porã Institute, the Ipê Institute, Ashoka Social Entrepreneurs, the Parelheiros community (who will be thanked by name in another post) and the volunteers who mobilized from different parts of the city. 💚
